The village

Steventon is on the edge of the Berkshire Downs with the villages of Drayton to the north, Milton to the east, Harwell to the south and East Hanney to the west. Various footpaths to the Downs and surrounding area leave the village. The Ridgeway is about two miles away. Tourist information is available in the room.

Steventon has all you need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.    
  • Pubs - The Fox and The Cherry Tree serve good food and are within easy walking distance on the High Street. The North Star Inn is on the corner of Stocks Lane and The Causeway. Or a short car drive away is The Pack Horse on Milton Hill. Visitors are advised to check first for opening times, etc.
  • Fast food - McDonald's is about a mile and a half away, just off the Milton Interchange on the A4130 to Didcot.
  • Co-op grocery store (open until late) with Post Office, newspapers, off licence, etc is on the High Street
  • The St Michael's Way children's play area is near the centre of the village, with access from St Michael's Way or The Causeway.
The Causeway, Steventon

The parish church of St Michael & All Angels was built in the 14th century by the Flemings. Steventon was an important centre for the cloth industry in the Middle Ages.

Some half-timbered houses can be seen along the raised Causeway. This runs for about a mile from the village green to the church and was built by Benedictine monks from the local priory. The raised causeway is grade II* listed by Historic England.

Easy access to Didcot Parkway station for trains to London, Reading, Oxford, Swindon, Bristol and Wales.

Regular buses to Oxford, Abingdon, Wantage and Didcot. Timetables from Thames Travel (service X2 - Oxford to Didcot via Abingdon, Steventon, Milton Park and Didcot Parkway) and Stagecoach (service 34 - Oxford to Wantage via Abingdon, Steventon, the Harwell Science & Innovation Campus and Wantage).
